Over the past year, you stood with us to protect people like Nieves from losing their homes in Peñasquitos Village – the last affordable housing development in Rancho Peñasquitos.
Thanks to you, we reached an agreement with the developers to offer Nieves and her neighbors better relocation assistance and expanded access to affordable housing.
But our fight is far from over. Peñasquitos Village is just one of many developments that will lose their affordability covenant in the coming years.
We demand Mayor Kevin Faulconer and our city council members to commit to clear, long-term solutions for our homelessness crisis, including:
- Preserve the 5,000 existing affordable units across San Diego that will lose affordability status in the next decade
- Strengthen requirements for future developments to include more affordable units onsite
- Increase fees, so developers can’t pay their way out of taking care of our families
