On June 13, more than 600 people attended the San Diego County Board of Supervisors’ evening budget hearing, and more than 100 people testified.
The testimony from community leaders with San Diego Organizing Project and others in the Invest in San Diego Families Coalition was impactful and raw.
We believe it’s immoral for the San Diego County budget to have a reserve fund of nearly $2 billion while our families struggle. Together, we raised our voices to demand that tax dollars are spent where they matter to build better lives for all our families.
WHY IT MATTERS
What does the county budget decide? Funding for services include:
- Mental health
- Public health and emergency prevention
- Restorative justice
- Housing support and assistance,
- Immigrant and asylum families
- Our environment
