📢 Submit a public comment 📢 As the City of Oceanside voted on a Police Oversight Board tomorrow, our organizing teams in Oceanside believe the current version being voted on does not speak to the values we must uphold in the city.
The purpose of the board should be to assess complaints and conduct independent reviews of police misconduct. Effective oversight boards are often made up of community members outside the police department with the intention of having a non-biased, third party to review complaints.
❓DID YOU KNOW❓What is a police oversight board and how will it contribute to just and equitable policing? Does your city have a #policeoversightboard and if so, what’s its structure?
Apply to our Youth Organizing Fellowship! Fellows will learn the art of community organizing and liberation through training and political education, work alongside a staff community organizer to develop a campaign, and take on a leadership role with their volunteer organizing team.
For more information and to apply, visit the link in bio. The deadline to apply is August 18th.
Keystone Trailer Park residents turned out at National City Council to voice their concerns over increasing rent and utility prices at the mobile home park. They asked City Council members to place an eviction moratorium for mobile home tenants and to create rent control policies for mobile home owners.
